HIHGLIGHTS OF THE JUNE 17, 2025 REGULAR SESSION

During the 23rd Regular Session held on June 17, 2025, the 20th City Council passed and approved on Third and Final Reading the following measures, to wit:

The Body likewise approved on Second Reading, Resolution No. 04419-25, Series of 2025, and its corresponding Ordinance on Second Reading, entitled “Enacting an Ordinance for the Official Naming and Designation of Nineteen (19) City Government of Davao-District Health Centers/Clinics as Primary Health Care Facilities.

 

            Further, Resolution No. 04437-25, Series of 2025, and its corresponding Ordinance were approved on Second Reading, entitled “Enacting an Ordinance Defining the Rights of Women in Conflict with the Law and Deprived of Liberty in Jails and in All Detention Facilities in Davao City, Providing Funds for Enforcement Thereof and For Other Purposes.

In line with the 2nd Year celebration of Duaw Davao 2025, Councilor Al Ryan S. Alejandre took the floor to present the candidates of Reyna ng Davao 2025, a platform which continues to showcase Davao’s lead in inclusivity and its diverse tourism and communities. This pageant is one of the major highlights of the month-long celebration which celebrates the diversity and spirit of women in Davao City, beyond the usual pageant glitz and glamor. The coronation night will be on June 20, 2025, at the RMC Petro Gazz Arena.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JUNE 10, 2025 REGULAR SESSION

During its 22nd Regular Session, the 20th City Council passed and approved on Third and Final Reading, Ordinance No. 0839-25, Series of 2024, entitled “An Ordinance Granting Exemption to All Exhibitors and Booths from the Payment of Special Mayor’s Permit Fees for the 10th Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE) Covering the Period of June 18-20, 2025”.

 

The Body likewise approved Resolution No. 04373-25, Series of 2025, and its Ordinance on Second Reading, entitled “Enacting an Ordinance Recognizing the Persons with Disability (PWD), Granting Privileges, Benefits, Protection from Discrimination, Denigration, Vilification, and Public Ridicule and Providing Penalties for Violation Thereof and for Other Purposes”.

 

Finally, Resolution No. 04404-21 and its corresponding Ordinance No. 0844-25, both Series of 2025, were adopted under Suspended Rules, entitled “Enacting an Ordinance for the Temporary Closure to Vehicular Traffic of the Following specified Streets on the following Dates and Time:

HIHGLIGHTS OF THE JUNE 3, 2025 REGULAR SESSION

On its 21st Regular Session held on June 3, 2025, the 20th City Council adopted Resolution No. 04357-25, Series of 2025, on Second Reading, entitled “Approving Barangay Ordinance No. 01, Series of 2025, entitled “An Ordinance Adopting the Official Seal of the Sangguniang Barangay of Marilog Proper, Marilog District, Davao City”; and Resolution No. 04366-25, Series of 2025 and its Ordinance on Second Reading, “Enacting an Ordinance granting an exemption to all Exhibitors and Booths from payment of Special Mayor’s Permit Fees for the 10th Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expe (PHTTE) covering the Period of June 18 to 20, 2025.

 

The Body likewise approved under Suspended Rules, Resolution No. 04368-25 and Ordinance No. 0837-25, both Series of 2025, “An Ordinance granting legislative authority to the City Mayor to enter and sign, for and in behalf of the City of Davao, the Data Sharing Agreement by and between the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office XI and the City of Davao, relative to the utilization of the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) in Davao City; and Resolution No. 04369-25 and Ordinance No. 0838-25, both Series of 2025, An Ordinance granting legislative authority to the City Mayor to enter and sign, for and in behalf of the City of Davao, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the Deed of Donation (DOD) between Daigo Sangyo Co., Ltd. and the City of Davao, relative to the donation of one (1) unit of sewage treatment system/septic tank (Johkasou model: AMN-5-D1.85 M3/Day) and accessories to be installed at Davao City Investment and Tourism Promotions Building.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sofia Corazon Zafra, Medical Coordinator of the City Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases of the City Health Office (CHO), presented before the Body and reported that as of June 2, 2025, there are 13 reported cases of MPOX (monkeypox) in Davao City of which seven are confirmed with two fatalities due to complications. Dr. Zafra further emphasized that MPOX (Monkeypox) is a preventable and manageable disease. The City Health Office reminded Dabawenyos to follow basic health precautions to stop the disease from spreading throughout the city, such as washing their hands properly for two minutes, using alcohol for sanitation, disinfecting surfaces, and avoiding close, personal contact, especially with people who may have contracted the disease.
