On June 28, 2022, the 19th City Council held its 24th Regular and Farewell Session, at 1:00 in the afternoon at the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building, with an awarding and presentation of plaques of distinction and appreciation to all outgoing members of the 19th City Council.

During the conduct of the regular session, the following Ordinances were duly enacted on Third and Final Readings:

The farewell session of the 19th City Council was adjourned at exactly 4:35 in the afternoon.

OATH-TAKING CEREMONY OF THE NEWLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS OF DAVAO CITY AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Zimmerman Duterte took his oath of office as the 19th City Mayor of Davao on Monday, June 27, at the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod before Judge Loida Posadas-Kahulugan of the Court of Appeals.

Also present in the event were his father, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, his mother Elizabeth Zimmerman, his sister Vice President-elect Sara “Inday” Duterte and his family.

Mayor-elect Baste Duterte spoke to the Dabawenyos at City Hall after taking his oath and outlined his intentions and projects for Davao City.

In his message, Mayor Duterte stated that during his first term in office, he will concentrate on the city’s food security and meet the fundamental needs of the Davao populace given the rise in commodity prices on a worldwide scale.

“The City Government of Davao is ready to work with all our [public and private] partners and stakeholders for the benefit of the Davaoeños,” Mayor Duterte said as he urged all members of the City Government to support one another in building a government that works for the people, protects their rights, and gives priority to their needs.

Mayor Duterte gave credit to Vice President Sara, First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte, and President Duterte for serving as his role models in managing a public office. He also expressed gratitude to his mother for her unwavering love and support for them.

He added that his management style would be similar to that of Vice President Sara and his father, President Duterte.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor-elect Melchor B. Quitain Jr., together with all the Members of the 20th City Council, Second District Representative Hon. Vincent J. Garcia and Third District Representative Hon. Isidro T. Ungab also took their oaths before Judge Emmanuel Claudio Carpio on the same day together with Representative Sandro L. Gonzales of MARINO Partylist.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JUNE 21, 2022 REGULAR SESSION

In the 23rd Regular Session of the 19th City Council held on June 21, 2022, Ordinance No. 0987-22, Series of 2022 was approved, entitled “An Ordinance Amending City Ordinance No. 0361-10, Series of 2010, otherwise known as the “Davao Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance”.

Also, the Body approved on Third and Final Reading, Ordinance No. 0988-22, Series of 2022, Prohibiting Land Contour Alterations, Reclamations and/or Earthfilling in Waterways, Detention Ponds, Retention Ponds, Lakes, Lagoons, Wetlands, and other Natural Ponding Areas in the City of Davao.

Further, Resolution No. 03562-22, Series of 2022 and its corresponding Ordinance was approved on Second Reading, Institutionalizing the Davao City Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) for the Former Rebels (FR’s) and Former Violent Extremists (FVE’s) in Davao City and Other Pertinent Programs and Services as Provided by Half-Way House Kalinaw Village.

Resolution No. 03563-22, Series of 2022 and its Ordinance on Second Reading was likewise approved, institutionalizing the Iskolar ng Tribu Program seeking support from the City Government of Davao and other stakeholders, such as the Higher Education Institutions.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JUNE 7, 2022 REGULAR SESSION

With Councilor Alberto T. Ungab as the Temporary Presiding Officer, the 19th City Council held its 21st Regular Session on June 7, 2022 approving Resolution No. 03512-22, Series of 2022 and its Ordinance on Second Reading, enacting an Ordinance enacting the Automated External Defribrillator (AED) Code of the City of Davao.

 

Moreover, Resolution No. 03513-22, Series of 2022 was likewise approved on Second Reading, entitled “Ordinance No. 02, Series of 2022, of the Barangay Council of Buhangin Proper, Buhangin District, this City, entitled “An Ordinance Amending the Date of the Barangay Day Celebration of Barangay Buhangin Proper from 18th of February to 12th of May of Every Year”.

 

Resolution No. 03514-22, Series of 2022 and its Ordinance on Second Reading was approved, relative to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be entered into by and between Bernardo D. Carpio National High School, represented by Maribeth V. Alcordo, Principal II, and the City Government of Davao, represented by the City Mayor, Sara Z. Duterte, relative to the Work Immersion Partnership between the school and the latter.
