HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
On its 34th Regular Session held on September 10, 2024, the 20th City Council passed and approved Ordinance No. 0631-24, Series of 2024, entitled “An Ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to enter into and sign, for and in behalf of the City of Davao, the Deed of Donation to be entered into by and among Aboitiz Foundation, Aboitiz Power Corporation, and the City of Davao, involving the donation of sacks of rice for its Disaster Relief Activities” and Ordinance No. 0632-24, Series of 2024, entitled “An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 0433-20, Series of 2020, particularly Section 2 thereof, to include in its coverage the Canteen in the City College of Davao and the Coffee Shop in the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building of Davao City”.

Finally, Resolution No. 03175-24, Series of 2024, was adopted under Suspended Rules, “Urging the Philippine National Police (PNP) to Uphold the Rule of Law and Respect the Constitution with regard to their ongoing operations in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Compound”.
During the Privilege Hour, Councilor Baguilod brought to the Body’s attention the alarming Monkeypox (MPox) epidemic, emphasizing that it is a timely opportunity to take mitigation strategies to prevent an outbreak in Davao City.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AUGUST 20, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
On its 32nd Regular Session held on August 20, 2024, the 20th City Council passed and approved on Third and Final Reading, Ordinance No. 0620-24, Series of 2024, entitled “An Ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to sign, for and in behalf of the City of Davao, the Deed of Absolute Sale to be entered into by and between Judy Ang Ong and the City Government of Davao, for the purchase of property containing an area of 50,045 sq. m., located in Barangay Tibuloy, Toril District, this City, covered with TCT No. 146-2016018399 registered under the name of Judy A. Ong, to be used as a relocation site; and Ordinance No. 0621-24, Series of 2024, entitled “Ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to sign, for and in behalf of the City Government of Davao, the Deed of Donation to be executed by the City Government of Davao over the property located in Panacan Relocation Area Project, in favor of Juanita S. Taculin”.

Finally, Resolution No. 03112-24, Series of 2024, was approved, Commending the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) XI and Davao City Fire District (DCFD)) for having garnered the highest rating of the search for the Organization Unit Awards for Calendar Year (C.Y.) 2024, the “Best District Officer of the Year”, espoused by Councilor Luna Maria Dominique S. Acosta.

The 20th City Council passed and approved Resolution No. 03062-24, Series of 2024, and its corresponding Ordinance on Second Reading, entitled “Enacting an Ordinance granting legislative authority to Supplemental Budget No. 1 of the City Government of Davao for Calendar Year 2024, comprising the budget under the General Fund Proper, the Development Fund, and the Economic Enterprises in the total amount of Two Billion Two Hundred Fifteen Million Seven Hundred Two Thousand Two Hundred Ninety-Seven Pesos and 50/100 (Php 2,215,702,297.50)”, during its 30th Regular Session held on August 7, 2024, espoused by Councilor Myrna G. L’Dalodo-Ortiz, Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means, and Approriations.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AUGUST 6, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
The 29th Regular Session of the 20th City Council convened in the newly renovated Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, now featuring an upgraded appearance. The 20th City Council passed and approved on Third and Final Reading, Ordinance No. 0584-24, Series of 2024, entitled “An Ordinance Renaming the Lying-In Centers, Reproductive Health and Wellness Centers (RHWC), and the Dispensary Section of the City Health Office”.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JULY 23, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
Responding to the City Council’s call to shed light on the unprecedented restructuring of the Davao City Police Station within 13 hours, Brig. General Nicolas Torre, Regional Director of Police Regional Office XI, explained that the order to appoint the OIC DCPO City Manager for successive changes came from the Philippine National Police.
The recently appointed Acting City Director of Davao City Police Office, PCol. Hansel Marantan, also recognized the Body’s concerns about his appointment, and conveyed a message to the Dabawenyos.
Resolution No. 02983-24, and its corresponding Ordinance, both Series of 2024, were approved on Second Reading, “Renaming Birthing Homes with the name “Lying-In” to “Birthing Homes” and the Dispensary (Main) of the City Health Office to “City Health Office – Dispensary Section” and adding the acronym in parenthesis “(RHWC)” after “Reproductive Health and Wellness Center”.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JULY 16, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
On its 27th Regular Session held on July 16, 2024, the 20th City Council passed and approved Ordinance Nos. 0558-24 to 0570-24, all Series of 2024, on Third and Final Reading, pertinent to the Deeds of Donation made and executed by 8990 Housing Development Corporation in favor of the City Government of Davao, relative to the Donation of Road Lots, Open Spaces, and Improvements in the following locations, viz:

During Suspended Rules, the Body likewise approved Resolution No. 02783-24, with its Ordinance No. 0575-24, both Series of 2024, “Enacting an Ordinance for the temporary closure to vehicular traffic of certain sections of the Davao City Coastal Road and the Davao-Cotabato Road on August 5-11, 2024 in connection with the 2024 Iron Man 70.3 Davao”.
On the other hand, Councilor Temujin B. Ocampo delivered a Privilege Speech condemning an instance of irresponsible reporting in which a media outlet incorrectly stated the source of falsified birth certificates purportedly used by Chinese Nationals to acquire Philippine passports as Davao City instead of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
Resolution No. 02785-24, Series of 2024, was approved “Supporting the National Disability Rights Week (NDRW) and Urging barangays and relevant agencies to support and participate in its annual celebration”, espoused by Councilor Lorenzo Benjamin D. Villafuerte.
The Davao City Water District responded to the City Council’s invitation to discuss the 10% increase in water prices by presenting their 10-year Developmental Plan. This plan will increase the district’s service coverage within the city and open the door to additional infrastructure projects, which will ultimately lead to an adjustment in water rates.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JULY 9, 2024 REGULAR SESSION
During the 26th Regular Session held on July 9, 2024, the 20th City Council approved on Third and Final Reading, Ordinance No. 0552-24, Series of 2024, An Ordinance Implementing the Dabawenyo DCplinado Program and Integrating the same in the Department of Education (DEPED) Curriculum.
Resolution No. 02639-24 with its corresponding Ordinance No. 0553-24, entitled “An Ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to enter into and sign, for and in behalf of the City of Davao, the Minutes of Meeting agreed upon between the City of Davao and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) relative to the Master Plan Study for Comprehensive Wastewater Management in Davao City” were also approved under Suspended Rules.
The Members of the Municipality of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, who graced the Council’s session were invited to the plenary and conveyed their gratitude for the consideration of their request for a Sisterhood Agreement with the City of Davao.
